Blink was unofficially born back in 1992 when Tom got kicked out of school for being drunk.......he made his way around San Diego when he eventually wound up dating Anne Hoppus, Mark's older sister. Anne notcied the similarities between her brother and Tom, pariticularly their mutual humor and passion for music. Mark and Tom met and have been best friends ever since.

Tom was responsible for the recruiting of Scott Raynor, and the three guys enjoyed small success playing small clubs, mostly for demos. In 1998 Tom grew tired of Scott constantly being drunk.....Mr.Raynor was  also looking to pursue his college education. Scott left the band....he had been with them for 4 albums: Flyswatter, Cheshire Cat, Buddha, and Dude Ranch.......but where would they go from here?

Mark and Tom had no doubt that the next drummer for Blink 182 would be Travis Barker. Having filled in for Scott on at least one occasion, the talent Travis possessed was no secret to either Tom or Mark. He was the drummer for the ska band Aquabats at the time, but left to join Blink. Scott only recorded one song with the band on Enema of the State (Mutt), the rest was Travis.

Since this decision was made, Blink has enjoyed phenomenal success on various stages world wide, and have released 4 more albums, the most successful efforts of their careers. In 2000 a live disc was released, The Tom, Mark, and Travis Show. 2001 saw the release of Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, and in 2003, Blink 182 released a self titled album. Many feared that this more somber effort would surely spell the end of Blink 182. Quite the contrary, as Travis himself said, "Don't think of this as Blink's last album. Think of it as Blink 182's first album."
